Mary L. Chute, State Librarian, New Jersey State Library, was selected to receive the ASGCLA Leadership & Professional Achievement Award for her exemplary leadership and achievement in the areas of: consulting, library cooperation, networking, statewide services and programs, and state library development.
Ms. Chute presides over a wide variety of statewide services and programs, focusing on technology infrastructure, interlibrary loan, electronic resources, and continuing education and training for New Jersey’s librarians and library staff. As State Librarian, Ms. Chute is the conduit for consulting assistance for the New Jersey library field, and has continued to work on library cooperation throughout the state in partnership with our statewide library cooperative LibraryLinkNJ (LLNJ). She has put in many miles to be sure that she is present at major events held by LibraryLinkNJ, the New Jersey Library Association, the New Jersey Association of Library Assistants, VALE (Virtual Academic Library Environment-the association for college and university libraries), the New Jersey Center for the Book and our affiliate Thomas Edison State University (TESU). She also reaches out to other state library agencies in our region (COSLINE-Chief Officers of State Libraries in the North East) and the nation (COSLA-Chief Officers of State Library Agencies), especially regarding co-sponsored events or grant opportunities.
Mary L. Chute will receive the Award at the ASGCLA Achievement Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 8:30-10:00am at the ALA Annual Conference in Washington DC.
