National Agenda for Ebooks Released

The ASGCLA Consortial Ebooks Interest Group is proud to release the report of the 2018 National Ebook Summit including the National Agenda for Ebooks.  Read the final report and keep up with related news and events online:

The National Ebook Summit was convened at the 2018 American Library Association Annual Conference to discuss challenges and opportunities in the library ebook marketplace. In attendance were thought leaders throughout the industry from libraries, library consortia, publishers, distributors and other experts. It was sponsored by the American Library Association and its Association for Specialized, Government and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASGCLA) division and emerged from conversations among members of ASGCLA’s Consortial Ebooks Interest Group.

There is a lot of work to come!  For now, we are focused on the following:

  • Forming a formal ebook committee to coalesce ALA activities and actions related to ebooks.
  • Developing a research agenda to collect and analyze data about ebooks in libraries.
  • Gathering information from industry allies to present a complete picture of related activities.
  • Planning upcoming events at DPLAfest, BookExpo and ALA to engage the full community in the National Agenda for Ebooks.

Our thanks go to all who participated in the summit and who will take part in the efforts to come to create the best ecosystem for ebooks in libraries!
