Megan Hamlin-Black was selected as an ASGCLA-sponsored ALA Emerging Leader for 2019. She is State Librarian for the Rhode Island Department of State, where she runs the legislative library. Megan met with the ASGCLA Board at the ALA Midwinter Meeting. She describes this as “a fascinating job. Our patrons range from individuals new to the legislative process who wish to advocate for themselves to the legislators and legislative attorneys.”
Though sponsored by ASGCLA, Megan is working with a team of four with the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT). The team project is to improve GODORT’s existing Voting and Elections LibGuide. The project goal is to create a marketing, implementation, and continuity plan that will make the resource more accessible.
The ALA Emerging Leaders Program is a leadership development program for newer library workers. The program operates under the guidance of the ALA Offiice for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR).
